Policy initiatives towards enhancing consumer knowledge and tackling consumer confusion in aquaculture sector

Abstract Aquaculture sector is considered an important economic activity both at global and European levels. It contributes in food security, employment, social cohesion especially coastal areas. Furthermore, it provides high nutritional value products plays a significant role constant supply of fish the market. However, major marketing challenges are observed within sector. Particularly, product communication issue as has been indicated by plethora studies. Notably, that there higher consumer preference captured versus farmed fish, This due to fact substantial knowledge gap regarding aquaculture production process. Interestingly, this also being organic sector, indicating consequently confusion unable identify added products. Therefore, present study aims review literature production. Thus, scoping research was conducted based on systematic search from relevant research, articles, online documents. Policy strategy recommendations provided how improve consumers’ tackle sustainability practices.
